EUROPE RECOGNISES AVANZA'S LEADERSHIP IN USING IA TO IMPROVE MOBILITY
- The ANAISS project aims to generate knowledge on the use of artificial intelligence for the optimisation of urban and interurban public transport networks throughout the trans-European network.
- Avanza is recognised by the Commission as one of the key leaders in the use of artificial intelligence and big data in Europe.
- ANAISS has a total budget of €2.74 million, funded under the 2023 Connecting Europe Facility call, and a duration of three years.
- More than 19 million citizens will benefit from the implementation of the project.
Madrid, 25 November 2024 – The green and digital transition is one of the European Union’s key priorities. According to its Smart and Sustainable Mobility Strategy and its Action Plan, sustainable and intelligent mobility must be supported by innovation and digitalisation to ensure connected and automated multimodal mobility. It is in this area that Avanza has focused its efforts with the ANAISS project.
The project aims to further advance the use of artificial intelligence for the optimisation of urban and interurban public transport networks located throughout the trans-European corridor network, creating and enabling data centres that allow efficient and seamless interoperability, something that will positively impact transport safety and multimodal travel.
ANAISS is a pioneer in the digitalisation of public transport along the Spanish Mediterranean and Atlantic corridors through the incorporation of AI algorithms to enhance the user experience in public transport and to achieve an efficient, interconnected and multimodal transport system that contributes to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
As in previous innovation projects, such as AUTOMOST or DIGIZITY, Avanza has designed and is leading the project together with the consultancy Novadays (a specialist in public management and transport policies). ANAISS has a total budget of €2.74 million, funded under the 2023 Connecting Europe Facility call, and a duration of three years.
The ANAISS project involves some of DIGIZITY’s partners, which will allow them to share the experience and knowledge acquired in developing the new data centre. In addition to Avanza and Novadays, technology centres CTAG (Galicia), responsible for the creation of the Data Centre, and ITAINNOVA (Zaragoza), an expert in applying artificial intelligence, will participate.
The project also enhances the capacity for integration and collaboration among the main stakeholders in the transport ecosystem, both public and private, at national and international levels (Portugal, France and Italy).
TESTS IN THE ATLANTIC AND MEDITERRANEAN CORRIDORS
As mentioned above, the innovative results of the project will be tested in urban and interurban transport services in the Atlantic and Mediterranean corridors of the TEN-T network, specifically in the main urban hubs of Madrid, Barcelona, Zaragoza and Bilbao, and their connections with transport infrastructure in the regions of Málaga, Alicante and the Basque Country.
The ANAISS project will have a major impact at the European level. It will contribute to the development of intelligent models for demand forecasting, smart driving models and the Trans-European Transport Network through measures that promote the efficient use of network resources. It will also support the interconnection and interoperability of national transport networks, the optimal integration and interconnection of all modes of transport, the efficient use of new and existing infrastructure, as well as sustainability. It is estimated that more than 19 million inhabitants will benefit from the implementation of the project.
With ANAISS, Avanza is once again committed to sustainability, improved connectivity, innovation in transport solutions, inter-institutional collaboration and social responsibility.
